Photos: A Young Mind Is Behind Mission Viejo's Newest Restaurant

Rockin' B's Burrito Bandito takes a wild approach to traditional Mexican food. Of course it does—it was designed by a 9-year-old.

You can thank a 9-year-old for Mission Viejo's newest Mexican restaurant, at the . Rockin' B's Burrito Bandito is the brainchild of Brandon Lauriano, who celebrated the grand opening Saturday afternoon.

Brandon's family also owns the and , also within the Kaleidoscope.

Rockin' B's Burrito Bandito was inspired by Brandon's passion to create great Mexican food. He conceptualized a restaurant on his computer called "Rockin' B's."

Thinking it was a great idea, his father, Don Lauriano, made his son's dream a reality by including him in creating the menu and constructing and naming the restaurant.

Rockin' B's Burrito Bandito features a build-it-your-way menu. The restaurant has burritos, puffy tacos, soft tacos, taqueria tacos, burrito bowls, ensaladas, nachos and quesadillas. And it allows customers to choose the meats, sauces and additions to the meal.

The burritos have special options:

  • Wet It! gets your serving topped with ranchero sauce, salsa verde or chipotle cream sauce and melted Monterey Jack cheese.
  • Grill It! gives the serving a crispiness.
  • Fry It! turns the burrito a golden brown.

Rockin' B's also features flautas, taquitos and chicken tortilla soup. These are all crafted to order with as many options as the rest of the menu.

"The food is amazing," guest Gena Lee said. "The portions are huge."

Another customer also offered praise.

"The chips are salty, and the salsa is spicy," Terry Paulson said. "It's all good."
