Derby Deli & Dueling Bar hosted its third-annual West Coast Hot Dog-Eating Championship Monday.

Takeru Kobayashi, the world champion competitive eater of hot dogs, meatballs, hamburgers, and pasta, won the championship.

He was able to stuff 49 hot dogs in his mouth in 10 minutes.

Nine other competitors from across the nation came to battle it out for a $5,000 prize.

Second-place contender Thomas “Goose” Gilbert of Las Vegas took home $2,500 for his efforts.

The event hosted live music from America's Got Talent's Ryan Andreas and included face painting and concessions for the audience.
