Police Arrest Man Linked to Multiple Burglaries

The following is a selection of calls from Mission Viejo to the Orange County Sheriff's Department from May 6 to May 10.

Police arrested a 20-year-old Mission Viejo man at gunpoint Friday as he exited a 7-Eleven around 2 a.m. after finding out that the vehicle he was driving was reported stolen sometime on April 20th in Anaheim.

After conducting a search, police found multiple stolen items in the vehicle and in the home of Julio Eduardo Rodriguez Villanueva. The stolen items included credit cards, computers and mail, said Police Investigator Brad Broadhead.

“We conducted a search of that vehicle and his home and found other stolen material like stolen mail and checks and that’s what led us to some residents in Mission Viejo, Costa Mesa, Placentia and Norwalk,” Broadhead said. “The investigators are still trying to piece that together because a lot of people don’t even know they are victims.”

Villanueva is in custody at Orange County Jail on $50,000 bail after he plead not guilty Monday to charges of unlawful taking of a vehicle, buying or receiving a stolen vehicle, unauthorized use of personal identification, possession of burglary tools and driving when his privileges were suspended, according to court records.

Court records also show that Villanueva plead guilty to driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs in February and was placed on three years' probation.
