Manhattan and Hermosa Beach are known to have higher crime rates. Restrooms in parks is not a newRead Moreid ea to Mission Viejo! We have lots of them, so what are you saying? Tear them all down?

JT - What is your thought process here? They have a higher crime rate so it is okay to know thisRead Morecan be an issue but the city needs to ignore the issues that you claim aren't happening? Now your come back is to tear down restrooms?
julia tully April 21, 2014 at 10:18 AM
You address this issue as if it is a new one. Mission Viejo already HAS PARK RESTROOMS. Adding Read Morea few more is a non issue. With your line of thinking, park restrooms cause crime and should not exist at all. I have requested police reports of immoral acts in our city restrooms and have not received one nor did Dave provide any accounts of such when he read his list of mostly plumbing problems and a few graffiti reports. Again, we have park restrooms so we are not asking for something new. If there are crimes in the restrooms, the problem is crime, not restrooms.

Mr Kiss, it sounds like since tour Desi Kiss April 04, 2014 at 10:43 PM posting that you certainlyRead Moren ow know Mr Gilbert as your Mercedes with your vote Kiss signs all over it has been spotted at Mr Gilbert's house. YES, the very same Larry Gilbert you claim not to know....... Maybe you just met him or just got caught not telling the truth. How many other things have you not been truthful about? One of your group I sure will now be dening this fact. Unfortunately, have you heard about the concerns others have that happened the last few days in Hermosa and Manhatten Beach boys bathrooms in those cities parks? PS Still awaiting your reply on presenting your restroom plan at the City Council meeting. Let us know and I for one will tell everybody I know to make sure to attend or watch the City Council meeting.

@ Frustrated Resident. Thanks for the info. Some just like to make some kind of a news or rumors,Read Moreli ke the person who took the photo of my car on a public street a few days ago. The reality is that I'm a design engineer and sometimes I have projects where plans and structural calculations are needed by residents for their home improvement projects. After the plans and structural calculations are completed they are submitted to the City for approval and permitting. BTW did you know that Charles Abbott & Associates is providing plan check, field inspections and permitting all at the same time for the City? I heard about the fact that some guy took a photo of my car. I'm sure that many others have done it the past. Actually my wife told me, because she was waiting in my car, when someone approached her and telling her that a photo of my car was taken. The person mentioned his name and gave her his business card and a newspaper. The same person however did not wait for me to show up so he missed the opportunity to meet with me in person and perhaps take more photos. Perhaps some other time. It happened that one of the homes on that street is in the process of such a project. That home is not Mr. Gilbert's property. For the record I have never met in person with Mr. Gilbert, however now at least know that he may be a great photographer. I would appreciate if Mr. Gilbert or someone would e-mail me a copy of the photo for my record and if it was published somewhere a copy of the publication is greatly appreciated. You may tell all your friends to watch Frustrated Resident who ever you may be. If they attend the meeting they may meet with me in person. It is funny how many people claim to know me in person, in reality they may of seen me on the streets, at a supermarket, at a local grocery store, at a farmers market, museum, zoo, beach, on a soccer field, tennis court, attended my classed at a university or a community college, are reading my publications, are part of organizations that I'm involved with, perhaps during the 2012 City Council Debate w/ Mr. Ury, Sachs & Mrs. Bucknum, worked with me at Disneyland, The Austin Company, Parsons Corp., Washington International, DJK Engineering etc. I encourage residents to attend this Council meeting since there are many important items such as: # 11,15,16, 17 & 18. Please make your voices heard. Happy Easter Everyone! Have a safe week. PS: I hope that you have had the opportunity to watch on TV or view online my public comment about my restroom plan & thank you for your comments who ever you may be. Welcome to the dialogue!

The Republican senator questioning Clinton was trying to affix blame for the confusion over who the Read Moreattackers were ... for political gain. Clinton was focused on the confusion and how to keep it from happening again. Here is a more complete excerpt from her answer: "With all due respect, the fact is we had four dead Americans. It is our job to figure out what happened and do everything we can to prevent it from ever happening again, Senator."

Hey Pete. Doesn't comparing 'likes' to tips confuse the issue? Money has a tangible value to both Read Moretipper and tippee. Both parties realize it is the dominant medium of exchange for other things of value (food, fancy watches etc.) 'Likes' cost the tipper nothing and are of indeterminate benefit to the tippee.
Peter Schelden (Editor) September 23, 2013 at 01:05 PM

What is left out are the "undisputed facts" which tend to support one position or theRead Moreothe r. And the above comments do not actually address the issue of why Americans do not respect their elected officials; however, arguably they address why we elect persons to office, but not sufficiently to explain why we vote against our own self interests. Ignorance, perhaps?
Shripathi Kamath August 02, 2013 at 08:59 PM
Ignorance would imply not knowing the facts. To some extent that is true, but since we can learnRead Morean d we have plenty of sources available, freely, it is laziness/indifference to learning. So I'd put it down to apathy. ____________________________________________________ In order to recognize one is voting against her self-interests, people need to drop the fixation with the (R) or the (D) next to their candidate's name. I illustrated this with respect to Gary Miller -- ideological partisanship trumps everything else. There is a firm belief inculcated in people that their party represents their best interests. I blame a very inept media for this failure to educate people of the positions. Check around, see how many newspapers bother to highlight the local candidate's actual voting record and what it means. On "significant" issues such as abortion, there'll be a drumbeat. On issues like whether the guy voted for TARP and is now railing against it? Virtual silence.
