I arrived on time for a routine procedure. They prepped me and I lay on a table, naked, for an hour while he gave another patient priority.
That's OK. Things happen.
My insurance pays 100% less a co-pay, so I paid the copay and watched the insurance confirmation.
One day I received a phone call from Dr. Shaban's office manager, claiming that I had not paid for the cost of the procedure. I told her to deal with the insurance company since the paperwork that I had seen confirmed they had been paid in full, 100%.
Ultimately they put me in for collection. Shaban thought so little of the patient relationship that he put me in for collection!
It turned out that his office manager billed for an office visit rather than for a procedure, and they notified the insurance company so the insurance company retracted the prior payment and simultaneously paid the full payment for the procedure. Apparently some beanbrain in Shaban's office saw the payment retraction and decided that she should demand further payment from me, not checking that they had been paid in full!
I called and asked for an apology from Shaban. Nothing came. I wrote and demanded an apology. Nothing came! All that they did was retract the collection that they'd put on my TRW credit report.
This man runs a sloppy office and I recommend giving him a wide berth.
For myself, I wouldn't touch him now with a bargepole.
