Simon Names Local Style Setter for The Shops at Mission Viejo and Brea Mall

Simon Property Group announces a fashionable alignment between Brea Mall and The Shops at Mission Viejo with Orange County style blogger, Tiffany Borland of Tuolomee. Borland has been tapped as a Simon Style Setter and will provide a local opinion on all things related to fashion, beauty, and style.

The announcement of the local Style Setter is part of a nationwide rollout by Simon where over 40 style bloggers were selected from a pool of more than 700 applicants to be their local Style Setters. Part of the selection process included the submission of a sample blog post, which was voted on by the malls’ Facebook fans. Shoppers can expect Borland’s Style Setter posts to be packed with relevant information about current trends, shopping tips, beauty insider information, style guidance and the word on the up-to-the minute items available at Brea Mall and The Shops at Mission Viejo. Style Setter bloggers will also occasionally participate in fashion related events at the mall, including store openings and fashion shows.

“Our approach with the Style Setter program is to hyper-localize fashion content to make it most relevant to Orange County shoppers at Brea Mall and The Shops at Mission Viejo. We look at ourselves as having a unique opportunity to be content curators,” said Jacque Ellis, Vice President of Corporate Special Events at Simon. “You will see this content integrated across Simon’s digital assets.  This program also reinforces Simon’s commitment to fashion & style.”

Borland’s blog, Tuolomee, chronicles her personal style through photos and stories, while documenting the chapters in her life. From its beginning as a hobby, Tuolomee has grown to offer Borland an opportunity to collaborate with major fashion brands, such as Dr. Marten, Levi's, bebe, H&M, Revolve Clothing, Billabong, Roxy, among others.

“Through collaboration, my style has been exposed to different ends of the fashion world and as a result, has become quite eclectic,” said Borland. “I enjoy everything from maxi dresses to rompers to high-waisted denim. I try to fit all styles and trends into my wardrobe, while still staying true to my feminine, classic style.”

For 23-year-old Borland, how you dress should reflect how you want to feel. Style can be inspired by the seasons. For example, for the transition from Spring to Summer, Borland is a fan of florals, well-fitted rompers and color-blocking pastel pieces.

“I think living in Orange County has shaped my style in a way, where I'm drawn to lighter fabrics, colorful prints and looser clothing,” said Borland, who has lived in Orange County her whole life and grew up shopping at Brea Mall and The Shops at Mission Viejo. “The beautiful weather always has me wearing flowing dresses and brighter colors.”

Borland attended Cypress College and will be majoring in fashion journalism next semester at Fullerton College, as well as working part-time doing social media marketing, modeling and blogging about fashion.

“My father always told me, ‘if you never want to work, find something you enjoy doing,’ and I believe this is it for me. I could not be more thrilled with the Style Setter recognition and to be aligned with both Brea Mall and The Shops at Mission Viejo,” said Borland. “There is a great appetite in the Orange County area for trend based updates, tips and retailer information and I look forward to being a reliable resource.”
