99 Degrees Forecast for Mission Viejo Today as Southern California Heat Wave Continues

The heat waves continues, with a slight cool-down expected tomorrow.

Temperatures in Orange County will again climb above normal today, shrouding much of the region in searing heat on the second of a three-
day hot spell.

Mission Viejo is forecast to top out at 99 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. The mercury will soar to 107 in parts of both the San Fernando and Santa Clarita valleys.

The Weather Service said the late-summer hot spell is the result of offshore winds combined with a "very warm air mass.'' It said humidity levels would be low during the rest of the week, meaning that "excessive heat conditions are not expected to be met.''

As it has done every day this week, the weather service urged
residents to avoid outdoor activity and reminded motorists never to leave people or pets in enclosed vehicles during the daytime heat, even with windows cracked open.

Thursday's weather will be about the same as today's. But temperatures will drop dramatically Friday. Mission Viejo should see a high of only 83 that day.
