Patients at the veteran's hospital in Long Beach enjoyed some special treatment recently, courteys of the Mission Viejo Elks.
Local Elks brought nine volunteers, plus three more Elks from Santa Ana, to pass out cookies and lemonade, administer a bingo game and pass out lap robes and clothing, all worth an estimated $1,000.
"All of the veterans were so grateful," said Shari Scott, Elks Lodge Veterans committee chair. "When they thanked us profusely for all that we do for them, the Elks volunteers all replied, 'No! Thank you!'"
