Fog and Wind, Now Rain

There's a 80 percent chance of showers Friday in Mission Viejo, when nighttime temperatures will drop to 50 degrees.

There was heavy fog, there were gusty winds. Now it's time for rain.

A storm from the Gulf of Alaska is headed to Southern California Thursday night. Orange County will see showers first as the cold, wet system blows south, the National Weather Service reported.

There is a 30% chance of rain today in Mission Viejo. Tomorrow, the chance of rain jumps to 80%, according to the weather service.

Two-tenths of an inch are expected at sea level, with up to the three-quarters of an inch in the mountains, where snow may fall as low as 4,500 feet Friday morning. Above 5,000 feet, one to two inches of snow is expected.

Meanwhile, the high in Mission Viejo today is expected to hit 70 degrees, with a low of 53 tonight.
