Torrance of Jan and Dean Rocks Elks Lodge

Dean Torrance, one-half of the 1960s surf band Jan & Dean, and the Vertikals performed Saturday before a packed crowd at the Elks Lodge .

The Surf City Legends Beach Party from Huntington Beach arrived at Elks Lodge No. 2444 in Mission Viejo Saturday evening featuring Dean Torrance and the rock and roll band Vertikals.

Torrance, from the famed 1960s surf band Jan & Dean, along with Jim Alquist and James Armstrong, known as the Vertikals, performed for two hours in the Elks ballroom before an festive crowd of 100 mostly Elks club members. The trio played such favorites as "Little ol Lady from Pasadena", "Dead Man's Curve" and "Surf City-2 Girls for Every Boy."

The band members have performed many times in their careers with the Beach Boys, so of course they played many of that group's classic hits, including "I Get Around", "Barbara Ann" and "In My Room."
