Is Your Pet Slow, Hungry and Lost?

A hard-shelled companion was found lost at the Promenade Apartments in Mission Viejo.

It's sad but true—people lose pet dogs, cats and even rabbits every day in Orange County.

But how does a pet turtle—famous for its slow, steady pace—escape?

On Sunday, residents of the Promenade Apartments near Saddleback College spotted the sluggish reptile in the photo above. It apparently crawled right into the parking lot.

One of the residents is keeping the critter fed while the owner is sought. If you know who this turtle may belong to, contact editor Pete Schelden: peter.schelden@patch.com.
