Relay for Life Planning Anti-Cancer Run

Hate cancer? Here's a chance to do something about it in Mission Viejo.

Planning for the 2013 Mission Viejo Relay for Life is officially underway.

Last week volunteers gathered to prepare for this year's marathon—a 24-hour fundraising relay to fund cancer research through the American Cancer Society.

This year's theme is "In It, To Win It." Thursday's sports-themed kick-off featured Hero of Hope and Cancer survivor, Joelle Kearny and Mission Viejo, Mayor Rhonda Reardon.

It is a private organization, so what they do with their rules, is really their business.…Read More Homophobia is not against the law, especially since they are not involved in any discriminatory practices. That said, the fact they choose to air this out allows one to comment on it. As to why anyone would wanted their kid in such an organization is beyond me, but the tide is clear, and increasingly bigotry is being chipped away. So, to those kids who want to be part of this organization, I hope it brings them some joy. It is not as if there were no gays in the Boy Scouts before, it is just that they now can announce that they exist.

The last thing we need to do it bash their unions. We need to take a look at the leadership of the union but the vehicle of the union is all that stands between us and corporate greed.

As I do agree, teachers are under paid, but offering something like Chipotle did is great. I think we need to bash their unions instead of great companies like Chipotle who are just offering a benefit.
