Mormon Flash Mob Takes Mission Viejo by Surprise

About 350 teens put on a dancing performance Friday evening at the Kaleidoscope.

A flash mob of about 350 Mormon teens from Capistrano Valley, Tesoro, Mission Viejo, Santa Margarita, Trabuco Hills and El Toro high schools put on a surprise synchronized dancing performance Friday evening at the Kaleidoscope in Mission Viejo.

A flash mob is a large group of people who assemble in a public place to perform a spontaneous act and quickly disperse after it is over.

"The performance was amazing," bystander Crystal Shum, 23, said. "I was surprised when people all around me started dancing."

The teens were from a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints youth conference. To kick off that event, they organized the flash mob to create a fun wholesome experience for themselves and onlookers, LDS spokeswoman Karen Lake said.
