'Weird Al' Yankovic in Mission Viejo Sunday

The undisputed king of pop-song parody will be signing his new children's book in Mission Viejo Sunday.

You know him for his outrageous song parodies, kinky long hair and accordion. But for a growing number of young fans, "Weird Al" Yankovic is better known for his children's books.

Yankovic will sign copies of his latest, "My New Teacher and Me," Sunday, Sept. 22 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center, 24932 Veterans Way.

This is Yankovic's second children's book. His first, "When I Grow Up," became a New York Times best-seller.

Both of Yankovic's books are dedicated to his 10-year-old daughter Nina, and he calls her the "primary influence" for both books. He told lifeinla.com Dr. Seuss and Shel Silverstein inspire him to write books for kids.
