With the International Olympic Committee set to make its final decision in a few days on whether to include wrestling (or squash or baseball/softball) in its 2020 program, wrestling has recently been in the news. Are you familiar enough with it such that you could follow and enjoy the sport if you were to watch a match?Starting Wednesday, the Big Kat Youth Wrestling Club will start a video series titled "Matside," designed to help the casual fan become familiar with the basics of the sport. Every Wednesday for the next 6-7 weeks, we will introduce fans to a different aspect of wrestling. We will cover things like how to score points, match structure, and illegal moves. You will also see some footage of local youth wrestling, hear testimonials of parents, and you will get to view some of the most epic matches ever wrestled in the United States.
Our hope is that these videos entice you to attend a local match and even to enroll your own kids or grandkids in the sport. Wrestling is a great athletic contest that has much to offer kids and adults of all ages.
Look back on Wednesday for the first installment!
