In this week's video episode of "Matside," we transition to international wrestling. International wrestling comes in many styles, but the two most prominent ones are freestyle and greco-roman. Both feature different rules and structures from collegiate, high school, and youth wrestling (for example, you cannot clasp around the waist in collegiate, high school, and youth when you are behind your opponent and he is on his knees, but you can clasp in freestyle. You can find more details about rules by watching this youtube video.), but are just as exciting.
This video is a teaser of an upcoming film titled "Ithaka," which tracked a number of wrestlers as they embarked on a quest to make the 2012 Olympic team. You can see by listening to them that the sport has forged deep character in each of these men.
That is what this sport is all about, and that is why you should encourage youth of any age to join a wrestling team.
For more info about the Big Kat Youth Wrestling Club, you can visit our website or Facebook page. Oct 30 at 6pm there will be an informational meeting for any parents curious or interested in wrestling for their youth. You can obtain details about that meeting by emailing email@example.com or calling 949-307-4390.
