Farrell's Names Sundae After Girl with Leukemia

The following comes courtesy of Farrell's Ice Cream:

Julia Walker was Farrell's guest of honor Tuesday in Mission Viejo, and soon she'll have her own sundae named after her.

Julia was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia on July 7, 2011 when she was eight years old. Her first eight months of treatment included chemotherapy every 7- 10 days and multiple spinal taps.

Although she was not able to go to school during most of that time, she continued to compete in soccer and softball and attend her numerous dance classes.

After lots of tasting and experiments Julia created "Julia's Gigantic Legendary Swirl Sundae" that will be sold at Farrell's Mission Viejo and Brea locations for the month of September, National Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month. One hundred percent of net proceeds from each sale will benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Julia's Gigantic Legendary Swirl Sundae has Sherbet, Vanilla and Mint Chip ice cream, with strawberry, butterscotch and hot fudge sauce then all topped with whipped cream, sprinkles, sour patch kids, a cherry and a slice of brownie—because Julia really likes brownies.

Julia has responded well to her initial treatments and is currently in remission. She will need to continue treatment for a total of 27 months.

She is thrilled to be back at school again and to resume a more "normal" life.
