Despite dropping for 45 straight days, the $3.776 price per gallon is more than 5 cents higher than the mark set last year.

The average price for a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Orange County has set a Thanksgiving Day record high of $3.776, despite decreasing for 45 consecutive days, including seven-tenths of a cent Thursday morning.

The previous high for Thanksgiving was $3.723, a record set last year, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

In another couple years you will think $3.776/gal gas is a bargain. As they float more fiat dollars into the system via quantitative easing to keep the interest rates low (since they can't afford to service the debt) it will inflate the price of gas since the petrodollar is the world's reserve currency. And then if a big war breaks out in the ME (which is likely) it will only compound the pricing. You will never see $3/gal gas again. In a few years you will be telling your grandkids about $3/gal gas like I tell mine about $0.25/gal gas back in the good old days. And back in those days you didn't even have to pump the gas yourself! Not only did the service station attendant fill your tank, he'd clean your windshield to boot!
