Better Boba Deals Through Facebook

Boba-lish-es in Mission Viejo cranks out cool discounts through social media: Facebook, Instagram, Android/IPhone-powered apps and more.

Last spring a new milk tea hangout sprang up in downtown Mission Viejo.

"It is about family here," said Boba-lish-es owner Neda Khorrami.

The Khorramis built the store from the ground up, she said.

"Believe me, we know family," Khorrami said. "Every cabinet, drawer, anything you see in the store, my husband and kids, we all built that with our own hands."

On the corner of Marguerite and La Paz, Boba-lish-es embraces Facebook and other social media sites to draw new and regular customers with flash deals.

So what other specials does Boba-lish-es use to pull in customers? For starters:

The shop's Facebook and Instagram accounts show off tasty treats and advertise fun daily deals, Khorrami said.

Fans who like Boba-lish-es on Facebook or Instagram are instantly eligible for a free drink size upgrade—so they pay for a 16 oz. drink, and receive a 24 oz. one.

There's also Double Stamp Friday for their points rewards system.

"Each time you make a purchase at Boba-lish-es, you get points, and every Friday those are doubled," Khorrami said. "And when you reach a certain number of points you can win prizes."

Those prizes range from free drink upgrades to iPads.

The shop keeps membership info in their electronic database, which keeps track of your previous drink orders as well.

Khorrami also plans to offer a free app for Android and iPhone users. The app will send flash deal alerts to your phone, offer an interactive map and feature food pictures. The app will be up and ready for download within the next week, she said.

"I love my customers, and I want everyone that comes to my store to feel at home, and always welcome," Khorrami said.
