Mission Viejo Homes worth $325 Million More This Year

Mission Viejo homes are worth 2.45 percent more this year on average, according to the Orange County Assessor's Office.

The city's nearly 34,000 homes are worth $326,766,545 more in 2013, according to county estimates.

In total, Mission Viejo real estate is worth $13.6 billion, the official estimate says.

The city's home values rose slightly behind the county average of 3.36 percent, but above the statewide average of 2 percent, according to the assessor's office report released earlier this month.

The county’s “Assessment Roll of Values” reflects property values as of Jan.  1 and includes both secured property, such as homes, and unsecured property, such as boats, aircraft and other personal property.

“Moving into 2013, however, there are many more areas in the county showing significant recovery in market value and these changes will show up on next year’s rolls,” according to an assessor’s office press release.

Between Orange County's 34 cities, Mission Viejo placed 26th in terms of the percent its homes increased in value over last year. Topping that list were Newport Beach, Laguna Beach and Villa Park. Mission Viejo home values grew slightly more than Laguna Niguel, but not quite as much as Laguna Hills.
