West Beats East in Mission Viejo Home Sales

More homes were sold in the western half of Mission Viejo in May, a switch from last year.

These days it's easier to sell a home on the western half of Mission Viejo than the eastern half, according to the latest DataQuick results from May 2011.

That wasn't the case last year.

In the 92691 zip code in May 2011, 64 homes were sold in Mission Viejo. That's an increase of about 20 percent over the same month last year. But those homes sold for about 5 percent less than last year at a median average of $425,000.

On the eastern half of the city in the 92692 zip code, the data tell another story.

Last May 53 homes were sold in the east, a drop of 21 percent over last year. And the median sales price of those homes dropped by about 20 percent to $437,500.

The dividing line between the two zip codes is roughly Marguerite Parkway.
