Desi Kiss's Trust Issues

I'm tired of the immaturity by some Mission Viejo City Council Candidates. Kiss and Schlicht to be exact.

Like all of his ideas, Desi Kiss’s argument about trusting incumbents is seriously flawed; his argument is a rehash of the lies and distortions that Kiss lifted from Brad Morton’s Blog. If you want a giggle sometime read Morton’s blog. Talk about the seriously and permanently grumpy!

Morton’s newest fabrication claims Cathy Schlicht has never taken special interest money. Ho ho. I’ve included a copy of one page from one of Schlicht’s financial reports so you can see the truth. It shows a $500 donation from Atlas, the company Schlicht voted for to sweep our streets. Is that special interest money? You bet. Is Schlicht corrupt? Was that a bribe? She is guilty in only the most simplistic of minds, like those of Morton and Kiss. The donation, however, is proof of Morton’s ability to lie and of Schlicht’s hypocracy since she claimed she would never take special interest money.

It is a fact. Unlike other politicians, I do not accept special interest money. Cathy Schlicht

Running a negative campaign and lying constantly about your opponents is nothing new in American Politics. It is, however, a sign of desperation, a sign of a campaign without a moral compass; just like those small, exhaustingly immature, hand-made signs the Schlicht campaign has been papering the town with; you’ve seen them…they villify Mayor Ury and Commissioner Bucknum…they are straight out of Larry Gilbert’s “Running For Student Council”.

Kiss doesn’t object to the obvious distortions in those signs. Nor has he objected to the way his supporters have attacked people in their comments here on the Patch. That is because he is aligned with the dark side of Morton, Schlicht, and Sachs. “Barking Dog,” “Nicky Welsch,” “Bob Lee,” and “Nick Carraway” attack others in an attempt to silence them. Don’t let them get away with it. They hide behind those fake names because they are cowards who don’t have enough conviction to take responsibility for their own words.

We live in a town that is extremely well-managed. Our parks are plentiful and well-cared for; our kids have plenty of positive alternatives to choose from after school. We have a vibrant library; well over 90% of the people in Mission Viejo have a library card, and they actually use the library.

That translates to a population that is educated and well-read. So it’s astounding that Kiss, Schlicht, and Sachs all claim the city is broke and that we are awash with corruption. They must think we’re morons. Or else they believe we are old and infirm. It’s probably the latter and that’s why they prey on people who live in Costa Del Sol.

When you hear Kiss, Schlicht, or Sachs going into the doom and gloom routine, look around you. What do you see? I see good schools, high property values, a great library, a wonderful community center, an animal shelter that doesn’t execute cats and dogs, low crime, vibrant arts events, sports facilities for our kids, and on and on and on.

I urge you to vote for people who don’t live on the dark side. People who think beyond themselves and look for ways to improve rather than destroy Mission Viejo. This year those people are Frank Ury and Wendy Bucknum.
