There's a four-year-old male pit bull mix waiting for a new owner at the Mission Viejo Animal Services Center.
Potential owners have been overlooking Lieutenant, according to city staff. He's athletic and can be bouncy inside his kennel "so people think he’s too much to handle," staff said in a recent statement.
"But once he gets out and meets you, he’s a different dog—calmer and very sweet," the statement reads.
Lieutenant is good with children and most dogs, according to the city. He enjoys toys like the flying disk he's chewing on in the attached photo.
