After a tornado ripped through America's heartland Monday killing 24, including 9 children, many wonder how to help those impacted by the Oklahoma disaster.
With winds estimated at 200mph+, the tornado tore through the Oklahoma City suburb Moore. It is being called the deadliest U.S. tornado since a twister tore through Joplin, Missouri two years ago, killing 161 people.
The Red Cross
Red Cross officials say the best way to help is to donate money to relief efforts.
According to the charity, the public can contribute to their Disaster Relief Fund "which helps provide food, shelter and emotional support to those affected by disasters like the recent tornadoes in Oklahoma."
One of the easiest ways is to simply text the word REDCROSS to the number 90999, and $10 will be donated to the agency via your monthly cell phone bill. According to the Red Cross, that money goes into the fund.
If you can't text, or don't want to, you can also donate via the Red Cross website by clicking here. Donations made online can be for an amount of your choosing, with a minimum of $10.
The Salvation Army
The Salvation Army has also set up a fund specifically for those affected by the Oklahoma twister. Click here to donate to Oklahoma Tornado Relief.
