This is what they do. They raise the gas prices to high levels and when the people start to complain they back off a little. When the emotions dies down they raise them higher than the last time....and then back off when the people complain. It's vicious cycle. If you watch the AVERAGE price of a gallon of gas over, let's say, 2 years periods you would see a significant jump. Now if we get gas at $3.25 to $3.50 a gallon we consider it a bargain. $3.50 a gallon 5 years ago would have been considered price gouging. There is NO REASON for the price of gas to go higher. There are no new wars in oil producing countries. There were no refinery fires. We are not in the process of converting from one type of fuel to another. There is only one reason for it: THE ONES WHO PROFIT FROM IT CAN RAISE IT AT WILL FOR NO GOOD ECONOMIC REASON OTHER THAN TO MAKE MORE PROFITS FROM IT. Soon you will consider $4.25 a gallon a big bargain too. Open up your eyes, folks.
There was a time when the price per gallon was under $2. And you don't have to be that old to remember when the price per gallon was under $1. I heard Obama had a plan to lower the pump price of gasoline for those persons who were classified as "low income" earners. To offset the pricing discount, those persons earning an annual income greater than the prior classification would pay the difference plus the average price per gallon. All of this would be claimed on your new federal tax return. For California residents, the new tax form would be designated a "State California Refinery Excise Worksheet," or in tax lingo a 10-40SCREW.
We're now back over $4.30 a gallon and the media is hardly mentioning it. That just goes to show how people are desensitized to higher and higher gas prices. Like I said earlier, in a couple years people will consider $4.25 gas prices a bargain. The oil companies (poltitical sugar daddies) come out smelling like a rose and gas prices in California are a progressive tax on the citizens. The higher the price the bigger the cut for the state and the Feds. So if they can't rescind Prop 13 they'll just get us at the pumps. WATCH THE PATTERN: Higher gas prices - consumer pushback - price temporarily cut until emotions subside - increase price higher than it was previously - consumer pushback - price temporarily cut until emotions subside - increase price higher than it was previously.....wash, rinse and repeat. Not that difficult to figure out.
You should start your own blog, Johnny. Maybe they would leave you alone too.
