Schools are a big part of public life in Mission Viejo. Of course it's where our kids go to learn, but plenty of fun, scary or just plain odd things seem to happen there that go beyond reading, writing and 'rithmetic.

Vandals caused thousands of dollars in damage in March by spray-painting swastikas and vulgar words and images all over Philip J. Reilly Elementary School.
