Thick Fog Gives Way to Dry, Windy Weather

The dense fog that blanketed the Orange County coast Wednesday morning will clear out, giving way to dry, gusty winds and hot temperatures.

The National Weather Service issued a red flag warning that's in effect until 6 p.m. today, advising residents of gusts as strong as 50 mph.

The winds will be the strongest in the morning, and will slowly decrease throughout the afternoon, forecasters said.

In Mission Viejo, the high will be 85 degrees.

Temperatures will drop nine degrees Thursday with a high of 76 degrees and low of 51. It will be even chillier Friday, when there's a 50 percent chance of showers and the low will dip to 40 degrees. 

"On Wednesday night and Thursday we transition into a distinctly colder, wetter, winter-like weather pattern," Weather Service forecasters said.
