MISSION VIEJO SOLAR PROGRAM EDUCATES MIDDLE SCHOOL

Sullivan Solar Power Educates Students About Renewable Energy

(Mission Viejo, Calif.) May 7, 2013 – In light of Earth Day on April 22, 2013 Sullivan Solar Power was able to help inspire and educate a 6th grade science class at Newhart Middle School. Newhart Middle School hosted their 3rd annual Earth Day celebration last Friday April 19th at the local Middle School.

Sullivan Solar Power was able to give a one hour interactive solar presentation to Mr. Gerboski’s science class. The demonstration ranged from how solar works, they talked about the different parts of the process and about the technology. The children we asked to design a solar project that could be used in their community. Some projects to note: a solar stadium and a solar Iphone were some of the unique ideas presented.

Sullivan Solar Power hosted a free Mission Viejo Solar Seminar at the Mission Viejo City Hall on May 4th from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. This seminar covered solar technology, state rebates, federal incentives and the Mission Viejo Solar Program. This was a great opportunity for residents to learn about solar for their property.

In response to the Mission Viejo Solar Program, local residents having been feverishly signing up to go solar. To date 6 residents have signed up and over 36 residents have received custom proposals for their homes. Combined over 35,000 watts of solar power are currently scheduled to be installed within the community and given the high level of interest in the program, it is predicted by program administrator, Sullivan Solar Power, that an additional 100,000 watts will be scheduled before the program closes on June 3rd.

The program provides Mission Viejo homeowners and businesses the financial tools to go solar for no money out of pocket. The monthly payments participants make for their solar power systems are often times much less than the electric bill that the solar power system eliminated. According to Sullivan, a homeowner with an electric bill of $234 can go solar for $146 per month. In addition, after the system is installed, the Mission Viejo Solar Program will pay participants for going solar. With the current program incentives participants in Mission Viejo will receive a check for up to $2,000.

"We are really happy to see that Mission Viejo is responding favorably to the Mission Viejo Solar Program. With the financing the program offers and the cash payments for going solar, it really is a no brainer,” said Daniel Sullivan, founder and President of Sullivan Solar Power. “People are getting paid to save money every month. This is our version of a stimulus program, and it works."

Residents who are interested in going solar can visit www.MissionViejo SolarProgram.org or call 1-800-SULLIVAN.
