$375,000 Raised in 2013 Mission Hospital Golf Classic

The following comes from Mission Hospital:

The 21st Annual Mission Hospital Golf Classic presented by Audi Mission Viejo and Infiniti of Mission Viejo was held at Coto de Caza Golf & Racquet Club on June 24. The event raised over $375,000 in net proceeds to benefit Mission500—Mission Hospital's $500 million campaign. Since the tournament began 21 years ago, more than $3.3 million has been raised for expansion, technology upgrades, and needed improvements at Mission Hospital.

The Golf Classic was led by Jim Bastian, Chair and Ross Pake, Sponsorship Chair. Thanks to their leadership and the generosity of tournament sponsor Audi Mission Viejo and Infiniti of Mission Viejo, more than 100 sponsors and the participation of 281 golfers, the event exceeded each of the previous 20 years' proceeds.

"Having a world class hospital in our community is only possible through the dedication and hard work of many, many people from doctors and nurses to staff members and volunteers who make a difference in people's lives every day," says Golf Classic Chair Jim Bastian. "My family and I have experienced this first hand with serious health issues in the last few years and feel so blessed to have been able to receive life saving care at Mission. With record participation and fund raising it is clear that our community is committed to helping the Foundation reach its goal of raising $500 million so that we will continue to have an amazing hospital in our own backyard. I am so privileged and proud to be part of this incredible cause."

For the past five years, Tournament Sponsor Audi Mission Viejo and Infiniti of Mission Viejo has inspired others in the community to support the tournament. South Orange County is very fortunate to have access to Mission's incredible care and I encourage everyone to do what they can to support our hospital," said Matt Gunderson, owner of Audi Mission Viejo.

Following the tournament, there was a cocktail reception and silent auction, awards dinner and live auction. The live auction offered high-end prize packages including a VIP experience at the Del Mar Racetrack including four Clubhouse season admission passes, an ultimate golf package with two tickets for the Tiger Woods World Challenge, and an opportunity to go behind the scenes of the new Cirque Du Soleil show, TOTEM.

To conclude the festivities, a ticket was randomly picked from among opportunities purchased prior to the event. This year's winner of a new Audi or Infiniti was Tommie Tishler.
