Strong Thunderstorm Warning In Orange County

"Frequent, dangerous lightning" possible in Mission Viejo, Lake Forest and Rancho Santa Margarita.

Hear that thunder?

The National Weather Service issued a significant weather advisory Monday afternoon as a thunderstorm appeared 7 miles east of Mission Viejo.

The storm is moving southwest at 5 MPH, says the NWS.

Affected areas include Mission Viejo, Lake Forest, Rancho Santa Margarita, Laguna Hills, Trabuco Highlands, Portola Hills and Coto de Caza.

Winds of up to 50 MPH are expected, according to the NWS.

Lake Forest residents reported hearing thunder in town shortly after 3 p.m.

Interesting but not very timely email notification of the "breaking news" for yesterday. Saw it & was wondering if it applied to today. Sure looks like rain out there w the weird monsoonal weather.
