Happy Tail Ending for Rescued Dog

Exactly 4 months to the day after The Pet Rescue Center saved him from euthanasia at the county animal shelter in Orange, Bruno, the former stray, emaciated Pit Bull mix, found his forever family.  Chris and Cindy Hebenstreit, Patch.com readers who saw his recent feature in the new Patch “Adopt-A-Pet” weekly blog, have adopted Bruno, and he’s joined a new ‘sibling’, Daisy, in their Lake Forest home.

Bruno, saved by The Pet Rescue Center from Orange County Animal Care on January 31, 2013, was emaciated to the core and covered in ticks. He was labeled "unsocial", and The Pet Rescue Center staff knew this sick 2-year-old Pit Bull did not stand a chance of surviving at the shelter.  They rescued him, along with 21 other dogs and cats that day, and brought all the animals back to their facility in Mission Viejo.

Bruno has had some media coverage since being rescued on January 31, and his was a popular story on Patch.com back in early February.  On May 8, Casey Oliver, Director of Operations at The PRC, posted a blog with the update on Bruno’s condition and adoption status.  The PRC uses a lot of media to promote their adoptable cats and dogs, and Bruno has been featured in the OC Register’s “Pet of the Week” and on social media like Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook. Most recently, Bruno was one of the pets featured in the May 20th "Adopt-A-Pet" blog in Mission Viejo Patch, the first of a new weekly blog provided by The PRC.  And that’s where Bruno’s new family first saw him.

The Pet Rescue Center, located inside Alicia Pet Care Center in Mission Viejo, is a 501c3 non-profit organization that rescues, rehabilitates, and re-homes pets saved from euthanasia at high-kill shelters and other at-risk situations. These pets are provided with a veterinarian-supervised, temporary sanctuary, while they work to find an adopting family for them. They have successfully saved and adopted out more than 600 dogs and cats in the past five years. To view their adoptable cats and dogs, to volunteer, or to make a donation, please visit them online at www.thepetrescuecenter.org or call 877.277.7938.
