Napolitano Pledges Plenty
Former Homeland Security Chief, Grace Napolitano, is now the head of the University of California system. In one of her first official moves she has pledged $5 million to aid undocumented students. A lot of money when the UC system estimates only 900 of the nearly a quarter million students are undocumented.
Napolitano demonstrated herself to be just about the worst choice the President could have made for Homeland Security. But that didn't keep the brain trust at the UC system from dumping a boat load of money on her and letting her run loose unsupervised.
We had heard the education system was underfunded. I guess Grace looked under some seat cushions and found $5 million in loose change. Put it in to existing programs so students can graduate on time? Not a chance. Sweet Grace decided to dump it on the heads of 900 students who are in the country illegally.
I didn't flip a gasket when students who were brought here by their parents and raised in this country wanted to stay and go to college. I appreciate the difficult position they are in through no fault of their own. But please, $5 million to help them with additional support is a bit much.
Grace is disappointed in herself for all the deportations she did under that mean nasty President. So what does she do? Give away some money. The liberals last dodge.
Perhaps she will do for education what Kathleen Sebelius has done for healthcare.
