How do THEY expect me to pay for this??

With only 1 in 10 graduating and actually finding work that supports them using their education....the odds are stacked against most families...

This time of year, we get the panicked calls….Student got into dream schools, and they got nothing but LOANS.  So we get the calls asking about the grants and scholarships.  The colleges don’t hide their costs…and they are not forcing you to spend 50-100 dollars to apply or to commit to paying 20-60k per year.   It’s a beautiful day…so I won’t rain on your parade, but this may be an “I could have had a V8” moment.

The big money comes from picking the best fit colleges. Like any large investment, one needs to look at the funding and affordability BEFORE looking at colleges themselves.  Who would sign a sales contract for a fancy car without considering the cost...or close escrow on a house, and then figure out how to pay for it???...Yet sadly, most people pick colleges...THEN figure out that they can't afford them...and go ahead with the commitment anyway...it defies logic!  When college was affordable, that was fine...but with only 1 in 10 graduating and actually finding work that supports them using their education....the odds are stacked against most families...

Parents…don’t buy into the media hype or indoctrination.  When you look at the labor market and see that only 14% of jobs REQUIRE a college degree…and you realize your childs skill set and passion is not in one of those fields…DO NOT push college on them, unless of course, you can afford it.  A college degree will NOT make someone successful or marketable.  A motivated and focused student will not let "school" stand in the way of a good education…and they will succeed with integrity and hard work.
