Mission Viejo Ultimate Fighting Star Headlines Walk Against Drugs

This afternoon's festival at Oso Viejo Park will feature displays, entertainment, inflatables, games, crafts, obstacle courses, entertainment and activity booths.

Mark Munoz, an Ultimate Fighting Championship middleweight fighter, will speak at an anti-drug rally at Mission Viejo High School Stadium this morning. And, in an effort to reach as many people as possible with his “drug free” message, Munoz will also speak at the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday.

He will sign autographs at both events.

Munoz will join thousands in today's event that unites the city, Sheriff’s Department, schools, businesses and local groups with students and families to embrace a healthy lifestyle and say “no” to drugs, alcohol, and tobacco. While his accomplishments include an impressive 11-2 (wins-losses) record, Munoz’ commitment to working with youth to reach their goals is most impressive. His five “Drug Free D’s” to Success: Desire, Direction, Diligence, Discipline and Dedication complement the event’s “Win the fight with a drug-free life” theme.

Munoz, who lives in Mission Viejo with his wife and four kids, owns the REIGN Training Center for Mixed Martial Arts in Lake Forest. The rally marks the start of the 23rd annual Walk Against Drugs and Community Fair, which is expected to attract about 3,000 people who will renew their commitment to a healthy lifestyle without drug, alcohol or tobacco use.

After the rally, participants in red T-shirts will walk two miles from the stadium to Oso Viejo Park, 24932 Veterans Way, where a community fair will be held. The fair will boast displays, entertainment, inflatables, games, crafts, obstacle courses, entertainment, activity booths and fun for all ages. The event will also feature fun activities catered to children with special needs.
