Best Dog Gon’ Day Ever in Oso Park- Margot Ferron

The sun burst out and welcomed pet lovers to the 19th DAWG Walk and Pet Faire at the Oso Community Park hosted by the City of Mission Viejo Animal Services and Dedicated Animal Welfare Group.

The proceeds from the dog walk benefited the homeless animals at the Mission Viejo Animal Service Center, otherwise the event was free.

Along with a two-mile dog walk of Oso Trail, the event featured vendors, raffles, pet adoptions, a professional pet and family photographer, flying Disc-Dog performances, an entertaining dog contest, mini-horses and more.

There was something for everyone.   Sponsors as well as and nonprofit groups gave out goodie bags, dog treats, bowls, toys and bandanas galore.   Some of the generous sponsors were Alicia Pet Care Center, Just Fur Paws Pet Grooming, Kahoots, Koda Pet Foods, Inc., Pet Supply Warehouse, Just Food For Dogs and Paaawz Pet Sitting, just to mention a few.

A variety of dog breeds participated and were available for adoption: Pekingese, Greyhounds, Chihuahua, German Shepherd, Boston Terriers and Bulldogs.

Please consider volunteering this summer at our local animal shelters.  There are many opportunities available which can include adoption fairs, educational outreach programs, fundraisers, fostering animals until a "forever" home can be found, hands-on interaction with the animals, helping with the day-to-day work and walking the animals.

It is a great way to spend time with your family while helping with a worthy cause.   Shelters in our area are also in need of supplies and donations which help provide for the care and medical needs of the animals.

Here are some ways to find out how you can help call 949-470-3045 or email www.thepetrescuecenter.org, www.paaawz.com, www.DAWG.org, www.PSWcares.com.
