Baskets of Love –Margot Ferron

In an effort to raise money for Age Well Senior Services and Meals on Wheels of Mission Viejo, a variety of gift baskets have been put together with generous donations from staff, volunteers and friends.  Opportunity tickets are two for a $1 or 15 for $5.

This year there are 13 baskets.   Some are Pampered Pooch, Treasured Sweets, Bling Fling, Country Kitchen, Tea for Two, That’s Entertainment, Warm & Cozy and Basket of Cheer.

The ticket sales are currently at Norman Murray Community Center and continued sales are at Santa’s Arrival on Sun., Nov. 25, 2012 where they will be given away at 200 Civic Center Dr, MV.   All proceeds are for Age Well Senior Services and Meals on Wheels of Mission Viejo.

More than 9 million seniors face the threat of hunger in the United States today. In fact, the U.S. Census Bureau’s estimate of seniors living in poverty is 16.1 percent of Americans 65 years and older. The economy has affected millions of older Americans who counted on retirement funds and their savings.

In fact, Age Well Senior Services and Meals on Wheels have had to discontinue weekend and holiday meals due to lack of funding.
