In celebration of reading, the Friends of the Mission Viejo Library are sponsoring Mission Viejo’s Readers Festival 2012, A Little Knight Reading. It will take place on Sunday, Oct. 14 from noon to 6 p.m. at the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center. The book festival is free and it is the only one in O.C. for children, teens and adults.

Some of the bestselling authors that will share their books are Angels pitcher Jim Abbott, actress Molly Ringwald, O.J. Simpson prosecutor Marsha Clark, David Shannon, Lauren Kate, Steven Raichlen and many others. Following each presentation books are for sale, signings and a photo session.

Join us for a day of activities, share your love of reading with other book enthusiasts and enjoy the various venues. Check out the food court with its variety of food trucks.

Don’t forget to pick up a program so you won’t miss any of the action—activities, demonstrations and crafts. The festival will bring the Middle Ages to Life on the Village Green. Enjoy the Queens College Crafts, Chivalry Today and The Society for Creative Anachronism, Inc. (SCA)

The Queens College Crafts will host activities related to the Middle Ages for kids and adults such as leather works, candle dipping, weaving and basketry. At Robin Hood’s Pavilion you can make pirate, princess, and wizard-style hats plus Maid Marion flower garlands while supplies last.

In addition, to these Middle Age venues a blindfolded chess master and human chess pieces will strategically make their moves on a life-size chess board. Plus, on the Troubadour Stage there will be Celtic music and a fashion show featuring Middle Age and Renaissance costumes. You are encouraged to wear a costume for the Middle Ages.
