Teams are Needed for Relay for Life of Mission Viejo- Margot Ferron

Teams needed. Join the Fight against cancer.

Join the fight against cancer.

Green for Bean, Beach Bums, Cheeky Monkeys, Goin’ Bananas for a Cure, Chemosabes, Sister Act and Men Behind Sister Act are just a few of the teams who have made commitments to the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life of Mission Viejo, a 24-hour overnight event that will be held at Saddleback College, 28000 Marguerite Pkwy, MV, CA 92692 on June 1-2, 2013 from 9 am-9 am.

However, the goal for 2013 is to have 50 teams on the track.  Currently, we have 42 teams.  It only takes five or more people to form your own team under the name of a church groups, businesses, schools, families and friends honoring loved ones.  If you are really clever, you can create your own team name.

How can you get involved?  You can form a team; join a team or just volunteer to help.   Now is a good time to start requesting your colleagues, family and friends to join your team.   If forming your own team is not an option, the “Commit (tee 4) a Cure” and Relay invites you to join team by registering online at www.mvrelay.org.

Relay brings an array of participants together to fight against cancer.  It’s a unique way to inspire hope and to create awareness to help those facing the disease.

Teams walk on the track and they are committed to creating awareness.  They raise money in the fight against cancer.  Join in the party atmosphere!  Pitch a tent, camp-out, eat, feast, play games and entertainment.

Because Relay is a team event, individuals aren’t required to be there the entire time, but it’s so much fun you will get caught up in the party atmosphere and want to stay.  The day is packed with entertainment- music, Kids zone, onsite fundraisers, fight back messages, etc.

You don’t need to be a runner or even a walker to participate.   The common thread is to have team members’ continuously walking, running or rolling around the track for 24 hours to celebrate those who have survived cancer, remember those we have lost to the disease and to empower everyone to fight back against cancer.

Relay is a healing experience for those fighting cancer.  It offers them a chance to meet others who have claimed victory over cancer.  This is a great, free family event for the community, but it wouldn’t be possible without the teams.

For more information or to register for the event go to www.mvrelay.org or call the American Cancer Society at 949/567-0625.  If you have any questions regarding our endeavors, please call Margot Ferron at 949/309-1235, gomargotgo@aol.com
