"Move to the Beat of Your Heart"- Margot Ferron

The Mission Viejo Student Advisory Committee will host a dance program, “Move to the Beat of Your Heart” on Monday, Oct. 14, 2013 from 4:30-5:30 pm at Norman P Murray Community & Senior Center.

“Move to the Beat of Your Heart” is a dance program designed for special needs children as a way to express them selves.  High school students teach this class. Sometimes the best teacher is a student.

They don't often have the opportunity to experience the typical school activities that other kids have. They go to school and they go home.  While other kids can participate in organized sports, cheerleading and band.

Exactly what are the benefits of dance? Dance is a perfect outlet for self-expression; it helps reduce anxiety, increases social skills and improves physical development.  Plus, it builds confidence and self-esteem.  In fact, dance is becoming a widely respected way to increase mental and emotional health.
