Patch Blogger: Announcing the Weekly North Fork Garden Pride Photo Contest

North Fork photo and garden buffs are invited to share their love of green things growing on this gardening blog.

  • Got the biggest pumpkins in the county?
  • Do your sunflowers look like a bunch of neighbors gossiping over the back fence?
  • Is your grandchild the best strawberry picker around?

See Your favorite gardening moments featured in this blog by participating in the NORTH FORK GARDEN PHOTO(s)  OF THE WEEK contest. That includes people, places or things!  Photos will be judged on their ability to capture the unique character of our favorite garden spot, the North Fork of Long Island.

Use your imagination. Shots of garden designs, interesting or amazing veggies, plants and flowers; garden critters and ponds; and even people shots that convey the love of North Fork gardening for all ages are eligible and encouraged. It can be a home garden,  a community park or garden club project or outstanding commercial garden shots from one of our area farms or nurseries.  (Occasional calls will also go out for "outside the North Fork" shots as well. )

---FORMAT:  Photos should be sent in digital format as jpegs: approximately 4x6"  scale, 300 dpi resolution.  Send as email attachments to: agriainc@msn.com  (Files cannot be returned or acknowledged).

---CREDITS:  Be sure to include your name and community and a suggested caption for your photo(s).  Unless you ask not to include your name in the credits, all photos published will include the name of the person(s) sending the photos.

Winners will be featured in slide-shows on this TIME IN A GARDEN blog or in occasional special “theme” features on North Fork Patch.   SO...........ready, set, go. Grab your point-and-shoot and think garden pride.

I have so many gardening pictures from this weekend! This is the best time of year to take garden photos! I'll submit!

TREE: Glad you're going to participate. And you are dead-on about the season. The greens are absolutely incredible this time of year. I've always been a fall person myself, but that has changed since we moved here 15 years ago. Spring in the garden here is incredible and goes on forever. Love it. Look forward to seeing your pix.

ANTI: You are right, of course. But I'm simply following patch request here for my own work to submit at 300 DPI. When you're converting photo size anyway, that extra step isn't a really a problem. Hope you'll shoot some green stuff growing and send your work along! Thanks for responding.

I hope your are planning on covering the North Fork Bed and Breakfast Garden Tour this weekend - you should be able to get some great photos for your blog.

Thanks for the heads-up. But the point here really is for folks to submit THEIR photos. I would welcome any photos that your members would submit. Email them as jpegs to agriainc@msn.com Be sure to identify where the specific photos were taken as well. Best of luck with your event!!
