Lavender Lemonade: Massage Heights Mission Viejo Recipe of the Month

A quick and tasty recipe for lavender lemonade/limeade, just in time for Mother's Day.

As the weather warms up, here's a cool drink that's sure to please:

Lavender Lemonade/Limeade

Makes: 6 cups

Here's what you'll need:

1 cup sugar

1/4 cup (a generous handful) fresh or 1 tablespoon dried lavender blooms (culinary)

1 cup freshly squeezed lemon or lime juice or a mixture of both

Ice cubes

Lavender sprigs for garnish

  1. Make a simple syrup by combining sugar with 2 1/2 cups water in a medium pan. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring to dissolve the sugar.
  2. Add lavender blooms to the sugar water, cover, and remove from heat. Let mixture steep for 30 minutes or up to several hours.
  3. Strain mixture and discard lavender. Pour infusion into a glass pitcher. Add lemon/lime juice and another 2 1/2 cups water. Stir and refrigerate.
  4. Serve over ice and garnish with lavender sprigs.
