Laguna Niguel Post Office and Its Patrons Fight Back Against 'Hitler-Like' Posters

Have people really lost their minds?

On Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2011 around 12:42 p.m., I had an interesting encounter at the

I was approached by picketers who were depicting President Obama with an Adolf Hitler-like-mustache and trying to recruit people to side with them. Three people were standing around with clipboards and munching on lunch motioning, and attempting to flag people down.

I walked into the post office and not more than 5 minutes later, another patron walked in speaking loudly and annoyed at the picketers. She was unhappy with their message but more so that they were on U.S. Post Office property harassing her. I couldn't help but agree.

She talked to the manager of the post office, then called and complained to the local police.  I was equally peeved and called the police after her to confirm her story and make sure they came down to the post office.

Well, you think it should have just ended there but it didn't! I walked down to the picketers to take pictures of their posters and as I started to walk away, one of the women yelled out, 'Whore!'

I'm not sure what anybody else would have done but I started to shake I was so upset and turned to her, and made my own derogatory comments such as 'I can tell you guys really have an agenda? You seem more like a cult,' and looked at the guy and said, 'you guys are brainwashed!'

By this time the police showed and I had a chance to speak my peace. I wasn't alone, there were other customers yelling their annoyance as they walked in and out of the post office.

The post office manager confirmed to the police that customers were complaining. Together they were able to remove the man standing along the pathway, and onto the sidewalk. And I even got them to move his car out of the customer parking lot.

Look, I'm all for people having a voice (uh, hem) but I can't agree with depicting the President of this great nation and a tyrant killer in history. But if you're going to do it then don't do it on government property!

I'm an Iranian-American and I take my freedom seriously.

If you want to have a voice and be heard then perhaps the opening line shouldn't be: 'whore' while you stuff your face with lunch. Calling names isn't going to recruit members into your cause much less have you heard. Red or blue, you're still an American and that to me comes first.

United we stand, divided we fall.

Had it been me, I probably would have done a lot worse than call the cops!

Debbie: You are right, something like this is happening all over -- even in the bedroom community of Laguna Niguel.

Good point about the government property venue. I was under the impression that this was more of a cult recruit than a legitimate protest. Also, there are several government properties. This property doesn't deal with any of the policy-making at all.

Thanks for all the feedback and comments, its how I personally learn and grow. From what I read about Lyndon LaRouche, he's been called many things and a cult is one of them. Check out his Wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lyndon_LaRouche its pretty colorful.
