Disneyland Railroad Engineer Dennis Flanagan Dead at 65

After life as a lawyer, Dennis Flanagan enjoyed operating a Disneyland steam engine in semi-retirement.

Dennis Patrick Flanagan of Mission Viejo died March 30. He was 65.

A lifelong lawyer who graduated from the University of Notre Dame law school, Flanagan pursued his true passion after retirement. After ending his legal practice, Flanagan began his dream job running a Disneyland Railroad train as a steam engine operator, according to an obituary published in the Orange County Register.

Flanagan devoted the end of his life to raising his late sister's daughter, his adopted niece Jade Flanagan who is currently serving in the Navy aboard the USS Monterey. Dennis Flanagan is survived by his brother Tim S. Flanagan of Rancho Santa Margarita.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 3 at 6 p.m. with the Rosary at 7:30 p.m. at O'Connor Mortuary, Laguna Hills. Funeral Mass will be at 9 a.m. on Thursday, April 4 at St. Kilian Catholic Church, Mission Viejo.

Jade Flanagan asked that contribution be made to the Red Cross in lieu of flowers.
