Elks Father's Day BBQ

Over one hundred Elks and their guests enjoyed a wonderful Father’s Day at Mission Viejo/Saddleback Valley Lodge #2444 on Sunday, June 15, 2014.  All in attendance at the Elks Lodge Patio wore big smiles while enjoying family and friends, eating delicious BBQ food, listening and dancing to live music, and participating in fun games for kids of all ages.
Kitchen and BBQ pit crew chief Ben Blair and his well-organized team prepared and delivered lip-smacking BBQ ribs, BBQ chicken, BBQ corn, and pulled pork to the buffet line throughout the event.  With this all-you-could-eat event, many attendees returned for second and third helpings loaded with compliments about the quantity and quality of the BBQ food and the array of taste bud pleasing flavors.
Local band ‘Roll The Dice’ rocked the lodge patio for several hours to many appreciative fans and dancers.  These Elks say a big “thank you” to Tim Stettson and his band for donating their considerable musical talents to our lodge event.
Exalted Ruler Derek Randles and youth activities chair-person Karen Bargabus organized games for our kids.  The soda drink and alka-seltzer tablet competition was the crowd favorite as each competitor eventually erupted with a mouthful of soda as they struggled to contain the mixture as long as they could.
Event chairperson Mike Long is humbled by the many Elks volunteers that worked together to make this Father’s Day event a success.  Thank You Team!  And a very special “thank you” to Pam MacKay for her mentoring and hard work at her second full-time “job”.
