Question of the Day: Ever Seen a Ghost on the North Fork?

With a presentation from a Long Island ghost hunter coming up in Mattituck, we want to know if you've ever encountered a ghost in this land rich with history.

Before Long Island ghost hunter Diane Flammer takes the stage at Mattituck-Laurel Historical Society and Museums at 7 p.m. Tuesday night with an illustrated talk on cemeteries and ghosts, North Fork Patch would like you to share your ghost stories with us. Have you ever been inside of any number of historical homes on the North Fork and felt an otherworldy presence? Ever experienced any real scares ala "Poltergeist?" Have a friendly spirit who lingers in your Victorian home in Greenport?

Don't be scared to comment in the boxes below.

Sandy, we'd love to post your EVPs. Feel like sharing?

I can put you in touch with the head investigator. He has everything and he was going to "clean up" the EVPs. They go to this particular location in Orient a couple of times a year but I know he has investigations coming up in East Northport and Huntington. I was able to ask a lot of questions about the procedures. The woman who is giving the talk to tonight in Mattituck put me in touch with Eastern Suffolk Paranormal and this gentleman is associated with them.

What's an EVP?

Electronic Voice Phenomena. It is basically taking a tape recorder, asking questions, and listening to the playback to see if anything answers. Most of the time you won't hear anything when you are actually asking the questions, but you may get something on the playback. It could be an actual voice saying something, humming, or just noise that was not there.
