Restrooms Needed at Parks

The City of Mission Viejo's  6 year old park restroom plan  has laid dormant and needs to be revived and put into action. Children all over town are forced to go to the bathroom behind trees and squat in bushes like  animals because there are no restrooms at many of the parks used for athletics on the week-ends.  The $2.3+ million renovation of Pavion Park idea is a wonderful  with it's statues, fountains and elaborate equipment, but this plan should wait until there are enough toilets to use at the week-end athletic parks. Human feces has been discovered more than once  at Reilly Elementary after  week-end sports this case is not isolated. Other parks face the same problem. Don't allow our children to be relegated to  primitive, animalistic behavior. . This is  not a frivolous request. It  is  a health concern for our children and all residents. The MV City Council has their priorities wrong on this issue, choosing an elaborate park remodel over providing toilets for children.  Let your voices be heard.  Julie Tully

Julia, if you are in disagreement with the imagination of the Avery gang or pulp please don't waste your time. They have a limited figments of imagination and perhaps they are still at the image of a hole in the ground and have not yet grasped with a view of public restrooms that need cleaning 2x a day! One must wonder do these people really think the residents are so stupid and don't need any public restrooms? Or wait, do they think we need to live in the bushes?

Okay writer of this - what you say about what happened this week (as reported on the news last night channel 5 lead story) in a Manhattan Beach City Park and then in a Hermosa Beach City Park where two young men were sexually abused in their park restrooms?!?! Is this what you want to hurry up and put in my local park? PLEASE....

Manhattan and Hermosa Beach are known to have higher crime rates. Restrooms in parks is not a new idea to Mission Viejo! We have lots of them, so what are you saying? Tear them all down?

JT - What is your thought process here? They have a higher crime rate so it is okay to know this can be an issue but the city needs to ignore the issues that you claim aren't happening? Now your come back is to tear down restrooms?

You address this issue as if it is a new one. Mission Viejo already HAS PARK RESTROOMS. Adding a few more is a non issue. With your line of thinking, park restrooms cause crime and should not exist at all. I have requested police reports of immoral acts in our city restrooms and have not received one nor did Dave provide any accounts of such when he read his list of mostly plumbing problems and a few graffiti reports. Again, we have park restrooms so we are not asking for something new. If there are crimes in the restrooms, the problem is crime, not restrooms.
