Airsoft Gun Mistaken for Handgun on Los Alisos

What crime incidents were reported in your neighborhood? Find out here. The following is a selection of calls from Mission Viejo to the Orange County Sheriff's Department from Aug. 16-18.

When a man was seen with a handgun running into the wilderness near the Los Alisos/Trabuco intersection, one resident called police Wednesday around 7:30 p.m.

Police arrived seven minutes later and soon discovered it was an airsoft gun.

The call came from the intersection of Alturas Drive and Modesto Drive.

Vandalism report. 11:58 a.m. Thursday. 26900 block of Pacific Terrace Drive. A resident said someone egged and toilet-papered her residence.

Suspicious person/circumstances. 6:23 a.m. Thursday. 21600 block of Marguerite Parkway. A caller asked police to check for a man with salt-and-pepper hair who was looking into vehicles as he was walking up Santa Margarita Parkway.

Pedestrian check. 9:16 p.m. Wednesday. 21500 block of Hiddenbrook. A 26-year-old man was arrested during a pedestrian check and was taken into custody at the Orange County Jail, where he was released for undisclosed reasons.

Disturbance. 3:36 p.m. Wednesday. 24200 block of Valyermo Dr. A 49-year-old man was arrested and taken into custody at the Central Men’s Jail on $50,000 bail.

Disturbance. 10:42 a.m. Wednesday. 24600 block of Acropolis Drive. A caller said an elderly woman was being combative as she screamed at everyone.

Disturbance—family dispute. 2:36 a.m. Wednesday. 26500 block of Saddleback Drive. Sheriff's deputies responding to a disturbance call arrested an 18-year-old man and took him into custody at the Orange County Jail and was released when he posted bail.

Reckless driving. 12:45 a.m. Wednesday. Santa Margarita Parkway and Melinda Road. A caller reported hearing people drag racing nearby, adding that they were doing repeated runs.

Shots heard—no suspect information. 10:56 p.m. Tuesday. 24000 block of Carrillo. Sheriff's deputies received numerous reports of fireworks near the Monteviedo Elementary, with one reporting hearing six to seven possible gunshots.

Drunk in public. 7:14 p.m. Tuesday. Santa Margarita Parkway and Marguerite Parkway. A 42-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of being drunk in public and was taken into custody at the Orange County Jail, where he was cited and released.

Disturbance. 8:41 p.m. Tuesday. 200 block of California Court. A caller requested police assistance after having an argument with his neighbor over trash.

Battery. 12:18 p.m. Tuesday. La Paz Road and Marguerite Parkway.
