Bank Robber of Muirlands Chase Escapes Police

Police are still searching for a short blond man who told bank tellers he was carrying a gun.

Police are still searching for the man who held up a Chase bank at 25872 Muirlands Boulevard.

At 4:01 p.m. Monday, police were called about a robbery in progress at the bank.

The robber handed a bank teller a note, Sheriff's Lt. Gary Strachan said. The note said he was there to rob the bank, and that he was armed with a gun.

Whether or not the man actually had a gun is uncertain, Strachan said. Also uncertain is whether this is the "dying son" bandit, said he would use the money for his son dying of cancer.

Police don't know who the man was who robbed the Mission Viejo bank Monday. They say he's a white man with dirty blond hair who was wearing a baseball cap at the time of the robbery. Witnesses said the man is about 30 years old, weighs about 150 pounds, stands about 5'3" to 5'5" tall. He wore a blue buttoned shirt and black pants, and he had an Ace bandage on his right hand.
