Resident Assisted Firefighters with Mirador Condo Fire in Mission Viejo

A condominium complex caught fire Saturday afternoon around 1:15 p.m. on the 21800 block of Mirador in Mission Viejo. There were no injuries, Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Steve Concialdi said.

The fire started on the patio, Concialdi said. A light breeze aided the blaze, he said.

Firefighters responded in six minutes and found a resident fighting the fire with a garden hose, Concialdi said. He said this could have prevented the fire from spreading.

"As long as you're safe, as long as you're away from the fire and there's a garden hose readily available, you're assisting, you're putting water on the fire," he said. "It still spread into the house, but it could've been worse."

The fire caused an estimated $120,000 in structural damage and another $40,000 in damage to the home's content, Concialdi said. He said there were no injuries, and although the fire started in a condo four-plex, only one home was impacted.
