Freeway Fatality at Oso: Ice Cream Truck Ablaze

In Mission Viejo, an ice cream truck crashes near the Oso exit, catching fire on the I-5 freeway and killing the driver.

A man was killed in Mission Viejo this morning after crashing a loaded ice cream truck into a parked produce freight truck, setting the ice cream truck on fire.

The crash was reported at 2:27 a.m. on I-5 southbound, north of Oso Parkway, California Highway Patrol Officer Denise Quesada told City News Service.

She said the ice cream truck driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

CHP closed all southbound lanes between Oso to Crown Valley parkways at 3:42 a.m. Three lanes were reopened about 6:20 a.m., the CHP reported.
